Our step-by-step process for large-scale upgrades.
The PSE&G Engineered Solutions Program brings customizable solutions and expertise to you to help simplify large-scale improvements.
Once you complete a master customer agreement with us, here’s what you can expect for a typical project:
Step 1. Energy Audit: The program team will visit your facility and generate an investment-grade audit that identifies potential energy efficiency improvements with estimated costs and savings. The program will work with you to develop a scope of work that meets your needs and passes the cost-effectiveness screening. We will then identify potential incentives and your repayment amounts for the project.
Step 2. Design: The program will cover the up-front design costs for improvements identified through the first step and issue bid-ready documents to your team. We will assist in bidding the project and can work with your preferred installers. We will also re-run the cost-effectiveness numbers to update the incentives and repayment amounts for the project.
Step 3. Construction: Throughout construction, we will assist you in construction administration. As the project progresses, funds are released to allow for your payments to contractors. Upon construction completion, interest-free, on-bill payments will begin.
Step 4. Commissioning, Measurement, and Verification: Our team will test and verify that your new equipment is installed and operating properly. We will measure energy savings over a 12-month period to ensure energy savings are realized.
We can improve your facility by installing or upgrading systems, including:
- Domestic hot water: boilers and control systems
- HVAC: chillers, control systems, distribution systems, air handlers, boilers, and exhaust fans
- Insulation/air sealing: air vents, piping systems, roof insulation, and building weatherization
- Lighting: interior and exterior LEDs and lighting controls
- Residential in-unit improvements: energy-efficient lighting, package terminal air conditioners and heat pumps, faucet aerators, and efficient-flow showerheads
Cost-sharing within the Engineered Solutions Program: The investment-grade audit is completed at no cost to the Customer. The design and construction costs are shared between PSE&G and the Customer. The PSE&G share is based on buying down the overall project simple payback by up to six (6) years. The Customer share of the costs is eligible for interest-free, on-bill repayment, which begins once construction is completed. The Customer’s share will be paid back to PSE&G as a charge on monthly utility bills for 60 months (120 months for multifamily facilities financed by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency).
